Chiara and Michelangelo are painters in the manner of the great Sienese Masters from the Middle Ages and Renaissance: Cimabue, Duccio di Buoninsegna, Pietro and Ambrogio Lorenzetti, Simone Martini, Il Sassetta, Sano di Pietro, Francesco di Giorgio Martini, Gentile da Fabriano amongst others. The brother and sister team founded a Bottega in 1990 in the heart of Siena, the same historical and artistic iconography of the ancient Masters. The Bottega is a place of study, production, exhibition and sales. Michelangelo and Chiara create all their works using the original techniques from the period of the great Masters, which still today are the only valid means for producing quality artistic results, and which have been used for conserving paintings across the centuries: precious woods, fine gesso and Armenian earth, lapis lazuli and extremely select pigments and natural earths, and pure gold. The Bottega has produced paintings for private collections, galleries, churches and places of worship throughout the world. The Bottega also promotes this ancient art through its teaching activities: ranging from locally organized courses for professionals to individual lessons for the advanced and beginner student. Among the subjects: the icons of the school of Duccio, the Madonna with Child of the Renaissance, and the tablets of the Biccherna (a precious collection of gilded and painted wooden book covers, which protect the public registers of the ancient republic of Siena, over 100 works between the XIV and XVIII centuries). |
